If you get charged with a DWI you need to know a few important things just in case they were not explained to you!
When released you should be released with two (2) pink papers. These appears are VERY IMPORTANT>>>> do not leave the jail without them.
One of the papers will be your temp drivers license that will allow you to drive for the next 30 days. This is only valid if you had a valid drivers license prior to your charge of DWI. If you did not have a valid DL then this paper has no value to you.
Now the second pink paper will have the address to Arkansas Driver Control in Little Rock at the very top center. You MUST fill out that paper and mail it to that address. This must be done within 7 days of your arrest. This paper does not have to be in Little Rock in 7 days >>>> just postmarked within 7 days of arrest. You will see that there is a fax number as well. We highly suggest that you DO NOT FAX, mail only.
Once Little Rock receives your paperwork they will call you. This will start the road to get another permit and build you a road path to get back a valid drivers license. If you fail to do this you open the door to be arrested for driving on suspended DL for DWI.
